CARE Scale X Design Challenge Informational Breakfast

CARE, a global humanitarian organization fighting poverty, is working toward cutting the timeline and accelerating the expansion of promising solutions that will impact the lives of 200 million people by 2020. Through its Scale X Design Challenge, CARE invests in nongovernmental organization teams to scale their innovations to eradicate poverty and combat social injustice. 

CARE’s Alejandra Villalobos, ’05 (International Relations), MA ’06, will talk about CARE’s work, her career trajectory, and how students can get involved as part of the Scale X Design Challenge host committee. 

The student host committee will work closely with the CARE team that will bring six international teams for a pitch night and celebration on February 9 at Stanford. 

Student host committee members will participate in an intimate lunch roundtable with the six CARE teams and CARE’s Chief Innovation Officer and receive priority for seating and Q&A participation at the February 9 event. 

Scale X Design Stanford Student Host Committee

Responsibilities

• As student ambassadors, the host committee will conduct outreach to other student groups and centers on campus, via flyers, emails, running a CARE table on campus at events, etc. (The CARE team will provide any of the materials and staffing support as needed). 
• Participate in approximately two check-in meetings or calls with CARE staff to discuss outreach in advance of the February 9 event.
• Host committee members could lead a brief tour of the campus on February 9 for any of the CARE Scale X Design Accelerator teams that are interested.
• Starting at 5:00pm on February 9, host committee members will arrive at the venue to work with the CARE events team to prepare for check-in.

• Receive preferential seating at the front of the auditorium for the event.
• Receive priority to ask questions during the audience Q&A portion of the evening.
• Participate in a lunch roundtable with the six Acclerator teams and CARE’s Chief Innovation Officer Dar Vanderbeck on February 9, providing an intimate and informal opportunity to learn about international development.
