A Conversation on Nonprofit Leadership with James C. Morgan

April 11, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

James C. Morgan is best known as the former CEO of Applied Materials, a multi-billion-dollar Silicon Valley technology leader with over 15,000 employees. Less well known is his extensive work in the nonprofit arena. He has served as a director of The Nature Conservancy’s Global, California, and Asia Pacific boards. In 1993, Jim and his wife, Becky Morgan, a Stanford GSB alumna and former California senator, founded the Morgan Family Foundation focused on youth, education, environment, strengthening community, and nonprofit leadership. More recently, they founded the Northern Sierra Partnership, which fosters collaboration among conservation organizations to preserve and restore one of the world’s great mountain ranges.

Jim will share what he has learned about what makes nonprofits succeed and his reflections on leadership, most recently in Applied Wisdom for Nonprofits: Eight Practical Tools For Leadership. Copies of the book will be available for attendees.
